FAQ

What is Show Up for Humanity?

Show Up for Humanity is a positive, celebratory event focused on music and bringing people together around one shared goal: more humanity in our society.

Our mission is to inspire meaningful action by amplifying voices that advocate for a more just and sustainable world. We want to show up for a world where everyone gets a fair chance, where every person matters. It’s a simple idea. Because it should be.

What is the goal?

The state of our world in 2025 is deeply worrying. Human rights are under attack. Climate change accelerates. Authoritarianism grows.  And change is happening too slowly — or not at all. Many people are starting to feel powerless. Some even fatalistic. Worried Citizens is a citizens collective with a clear goal: turn worry into action. We see so many people who want to do good but don’t know how.

This is not the time to sit still and remain silent. This is the time to unite and stir up action. We believe that when people gather, not just to protest but to dance, listen, and feel together, we can spark empathy, solidarity and humanity. And from there, change becomes possible. We also believe that the intertwining of music and global thought leaders will make this event more than just a festival.

All public, media and political attention Show Up For Humanity will receive, will be guided towards the causes that need way more attention than they currently get.

Why September 2025?

At this moment in time we see a clear momentum: the crucial climate conference COP30 in Belém, Brazil. Ten years after the Paris Agreement, meaningful action is still missing.

With only five years left to halve emissions, and the 1.5°C limit already breached, urgent action is needed — action rooted in empathy for people, animals and nature. Climate justice begins with recognising inequality, and responding with compassion.

Who’s behind this initiative?

The project is driven by everyday people who believe we all deserve to grow up in a society that values kindness, empathy and fairness. Worried Citizens vzw is a citizen-led initiative supported by artists, civil society groups, cultural organizations, and ethical commercial partners, contributing time, talent, and resources to make this event possible.

Together, we're joining forces to create a powerful, shared moment of music and meaning – a collective stand for a more humane world. Worried Citizens vzw was founded by Eline Goethals, Tijs Delbeke and Elisabeth Van Lierop. We have one clear goal: turn worry into action.

This initiative is a work in progress. We’re a citizens collective constantly learning and evolving. Do you have any questions or advice? Drop us a line

Is this a political event?

Show Up for Humanity is not aligned with any political party. It’s not about left vs. right or us vs. them. But, as the feminist slogan "The personal is political.” says: anything we do, say, or think can acquire political meaning.

From the clothes we wear to what we post online, it all carries not just personal significance but also the weight of political meaning, whether we intend it to or not. As we are calling for humane, inclusive policies, our goal is by default political.

Is this an anti-movement?

Not at all. We’re not anti-anyone — we’re pro-everyone. We believe in the dignity of every person. While harmful actions can be challenged, people always deserve to be treated with humanity. In a world that keeps dividing, we’re inviting everyone in.

How can we support Show Up for Humanity?

First and foremost, by showing up. Be there, bring your neighbours, parents and friends. Sharing is caring: spread the word. But there’s much more you can help us with. Organizing an event like ours in a top-notch and safe way needs a lot of hands and resources. Discover all ways you can support right here.

What happens with donations or proceeds?

While Show Up for Humanity is free, organizing a large-scale event takes resources. You can support us via donations or by buying sustainable merchandise, food and drinks on-site. Every contribution, big or small, helps us make Show Up for Humanity happen.

Your support truly means the world to us. Together, we can make sure Show Up for Humanity is accessible to everyone. Any surplus will be used to organise similar future events.

What sustainable and inclusive choices are you making?

We care about people and the planet. That’s why we’re using reusable cups, offering plant-based food, keeping volume limits in check, and encouraging public transport. We also provide free drinkable water. All our merch is fair and sustainably made. We also prioritize inclusivity and representation – both on stage and behind the scenes.

At Show Up for Humanity, everyone is welcome — no exceptions. Our goal? To offer an unforgettable experience to every music and culture lover, regardless of background, ability, or circumstances. We’re committed to breaking down barriers — whether they relate to vision, hearing, finances, or mobility.
